About this session

The SAT is still one of the big ones. If you’re aiming for admission abroad — or even here in Pakistan at places like LUMS, IBA, or NUST — the SAT can make all the difference. At KIPS, we’ve been training students for years, and we know it’s never just about formulas or grammar rules. It’s about discipline, pacing, and learning to stay calm when the timer keeps shrinking.

What is the SAT?

The SAT, run by the College Board, is now fully digital. It’s not designed to test “tricks.” It’s designed to check:

  • • Reading & Writing – can you process information quickly, spot errors, and understand arguments?
  • • Mathematics – algebra, geometry, data problems, word problems that sometimes feel longer than they should

Each section is scored out of 800, making a total of 1600. That’s the number universities look at first.

Why SAT?

Let’s face it: some schools went test-optional, but for competitive programs, the SAT still matters. Here’s why students keep preparing for it:

  • • Admissions abroad — most U.S. schools, plus many in Canada and the UK, still value it
  • • Pakistani universities — LUMS, NUST, IBA, FAST, AIU, and FC College University all accept SAT scores
  • • Scholarships — a high score isn’t just about entry; it can mean thousands saved in tuition
  • • Standardisation — it lets universities compare students fairly, whether you studied under Matric, O/A Levels, or IB

When to Take the SAT?

The SAT is offered several times a year: March, May, June, August, October, November, and December. Most students follow this rhythm:

  • • 11th grade — first attempt, just to get the nerves out
  • • 12th grade — retake, usually to push the score higher before deadlines

SAT Exam Format

Section Questions Duration
Reading & Writing 54 64 mins
Mathematics 44 70 mins
Total 98 134 mins

It’s adaptive. If you do well, the next block of questions gets tougher. If not, it eases up. Either way, the timer keeps ticking — and students often tell us Reading feels like it’s over in half the time.

How to Register for the SAT?

The process is simple enough:

  1. Sign up on the College Board website
  2. Select your test date and center
  3. Pay the fee (varies by country)
  4. Print your admission slip and start counting down

SAT Preparation Tips

From our instructors — and honestly, from watching thousands of students prep — a few things stand out:

  • Don’t wait to learn the format. Nothing rattles students more than seeing unfamiliar layouts on test day
  • Use official SAT practice tests; anything else feels off when you finally sit the real exam
  • Train under time — students lose more points to the clock than to wrong answers
  • In Math, watch out for word problems that chew up five minutes; skip and return later
  • Use resources wisely — at KIPS, we combine mock tests with drills, so practice stays focused

SAT vs ACT: Which to Choose?

Feature SAT ACT
Format Digital Paper/Digital
Duration 2h 14m 2h 55m
Sections Reading & Writing, Math English, Math, Reading, Science
Scoring 1600 points 36 points

Both are accepted in the U.S. The SAT is more common internationally. At KIPS, we focus on the SAT because it’s the test most students here actually need.

Why Choose KIPS for SAT Preparation?

Because the SAT isn’t about random luck. At KIPS, we train students the right way:

  • Faculty who understand how the test actually measures skills
  • Full-length mock exams under strict timing
  • Strategy sessions to show where to save minutes and where to push
  • Peer competition that keeps students sharp
  • A proven history of students moving from KIPS classrooms to both local and global universities

Session Duration & Structure

SAT sessions at KIPS run section by section, with Reading & Writing and Math taught in parallel. Weekly assessments keep students on track. Full-length mocks come later — designed to simulate test day so the real one feels familiar.

Scholarships & Opportunities

Universities — both here and abroad — often link scholarships directly to SAT scores. That’s why aiming for a high score matters. KIPS also offers internal merit-based scholarships for outstanding performers.

KIPS Campuses Offering SAT Classes

SAT Preparation is available at selected KIPS campuses across Pakistan. Students can call or visit their nearest branch for session details.
